Lethbridge Rams Raises Over $11K for New Equipment

Lethbridge Rams Football Club has raised over $11,000 since 2021 with Bacon and Fill Your Freezer Fundraisers. The proceeds from these fundraisers help purchase new equipment for their athletes, like helmets and shoulder pads.

About Lethbridge Rams

Lethbridge Rams Football is a community-based football club based in Lethbridge, Alberta that serves youth from grades 3 – 9. Since its inception in 1968, Lethbridge Rams programming has developed into one of the most successful and respected minor football programs in Southern Alberta.

This success is thanks to the hard work of volunteers, coaches, parents, and players. Lethbridge Rams currently has three football programs. Atom Flag Football is their first program, serving kids in grades 3-5 as an introduction to football. Tackle football begins in the Peewee program for youth in grades 6-7. Their Bantam program serves youth in grades 8-9.

Upon completion of these programs, these amazing athletes are fed into high school football programs for young adults in Lethbridge.

The Rams Fundraise to Help Purchase New Football Equipment

We had the opportunity to speak with Bantam Coach and Treasurer of Lethbridge Rams, Justin, who helps organize the football clubs’ annual TeamFund food fundraiser.

An avid football lover, Justin joined the organization in 2019. He loves being able to give back to the sport he played for a number of years in his youth, prior to coaching.

“It’s a nice way to stay involved in football and give back to the sport.”

Currently, the Rams rent their football equipment from the city, such as jerseys, helmets, and shoulder pads. One of their current major fundraising goals is to purchase their own football equipment to support their programming.

Airdrie & District Soccer Association raised over $5800 in their June 2023 Fill Your Freezer fundraiser.

In order to work towards this goal, Justin has run a TeamFund fundraiser once a year for the past three years.

In 2021 and 2022, the club raised over $8,000 in two years towards their goal.

This year, the club decided to try the Fill Your Freezer, brand new to Southern Alberta and raised over $3200 in their most recent fundraiser.

TeamFund Makes Fundraising Easy With Online Tools

While they had a similar amount of support from the community, Justin was happy that the fundraiser had a little bit of everything for families to choose from.

The Fill Your Freezer has bacon but also features products like chicken, sausage, beef, perogies, and more. This variety of products gives supporters more options to suit every taste and budget. Y’know … some young kids prefer chicken nuggets over anything else.

Overall, Justin emphasized that he really enjoys the online aspect of TeamFund!

“It’s been really good for us. It’s nice that everything is online, it’s easy to set up and Dominique is so easy to worth with!”

Some football clubs do other fundraising like bottle drives, but Justin is happy that kids don’t have to knock door-to-door or handle cash or cheques.

The delivery process is nice and easy, with volunteers on delivery day to help organize the products. Once everything is organized, parents can swing by and pick up their orders.

Over the last three years, Lethbridge Rams Football has raised $11,373 with Bacon and Fill Your Freezer fundraisers.
